World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Do you know that there is a Day of Prayer for Life every year in the Catholic Church in England.   It began a few years ago and was meant to be only for the babies who are killed in the womb but the anti-catholics got over this by saying it should be for "all life" and so in some years we remember those who die by euthanasia.   This could have been done another day but the anti-catholics got their way.  They also got their way in something else - it was totally ignored by priests and their parish directors.  So there is no sermon or recognition of the day in anti-catholic parishes for it might offend someone and we want everyone to be happy.   And that is the duty of a priest today - to build a happy community.

I have a strange feeling that come the 1st September this day for the Care of Creation will be greeted almost with trumpet fanfare.   Now this is what the anti--catholics really like - getting away from religion into tree hugging and blaming others for the state of things in the world.   What a wonderful thing to say "We have to care for Creation".   And yes, the flowers, the trees the beauty of nature are all wonderful things to admire and take care of and indeed as we look at nature we get a sense of the beauty of God.  We certainly should not be obsessed with building and expansion to the detriment of nature.   Were this what the Day of Care for Creation was about I would be absolutely delighted.   But NO, this day is about politics, it is about ant-capitalism, and it is about hypocrisy.

Where does the hypocrisy lie.   We will hear it in the bleatings for the poor from some Catholic Aid organisations who when working with the poor do not see Christ.    If they did they would be asking themselves what is in this Climate Change program which will benefit the poor.    They do not ask because they are more into politics than religion.   So let me guide them.  Why are the poor countries poor and the Western world rich?   The answer is the Capitalism they benefited from.    We prospered from using the resources in the earth, resources at the very crust of the earth, to build our industrial revolution.  Coal, steel, iron, helping us to build factories and give labourers employment and this moved to the worker being the consumer with money who had spending power for others to exploit, selling them food, clothing, household needs, etc.   It depended on Capitalism to set the whole thing going.   As Pope Leo XIII said in Rerum Novarum - Capital needs Labour, and Labour needs Capital.
So we are OK, Jack.    Let us turn to the poor countries we can all feel sorry for.   We took cotton from India to make clothes in our factories.   We exploited the continent of Africa in much the same way - we helped ourselves.    OK time for these countries to develop their economies.    Which brings me back to my first question.  What is in it for the poor in those countries    Why are there no mother manufacturers in Africa?   Why were we more interested in digging for diamonds rather than digging the coal deposits?    OK let us help them in this.  No, they will not be allowed to start carbon footprints, they must stay as they are.  Yes, that is helpful.   But never mind we are going to protect them from all those natural disaster that are increasing as Climate Change takes a hold.   Really?  Did you know the climate has not changed since the turn of the century?   Sorry I am a denier jut like holocaust denier, you must not listen to me or you might take facts seriously.    Well there are all those low lying countries in the Southenr region.   Again with my spiteful denier facts I tell you that the Antarctic Ice has expanded to a level greater than when measurement began.    Forget it let us do a circle dance.

So why are we being deceived.   At a meeting in Rome those scientists who had come to explain why Climate Change was not taking place in the way perceived had their microphones cut off.       If scientists say, we must not other scientists saying different.   No, what we have here is a group of Communist inspired people wanting to control the economies of every country in the world.   And they do not give a damn for the poor.  In true Communist style - those who get in the way will be sneered at and worse.    There is nothing here for the poor - there is only further misery,
