An Update on the Gosport Masses.

I wrote recently on the position of a Church in Gosport and admitted I did not have the source of the article but nevertheless I thought there was enough to make a comment or two.  I have now found that the source was the Tablet, an anti-catholic magazine that is sold in the modernist Churches.  Tung all things Catholic it printed its usual inaccuracies about the position of this Church.   The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate have indeed bent a little and if someone wants to receive in the tongue they can do so.    The parish also has two Masses every day, one at 7am which is Latin and another one in English at 9am.   Sundays there is also a Latin Mass and an English Mass.   Far from deserting the number of people attending Mass has grown in the last two months.  The trouble is that there is a hatred of the Church deep rooted in the Portsmouth among those who were once the Spirit of Vatican II.  The Tridentine Mass threatens the new Theology they created about the Community.  It was not receiving Communion that was important but going back to our seats to be part of the Community.   And as a Community we went in procession to the altar whatever sins we had committed and received, and since the host was no longer as important as the community we should stop any devotional practice such as kneeling for Holy Communion is not a devotional thing, and stand.    Those of you who understand the Mass will find this unbelievable but I can assure you I have been taught this many times over the past forty years. The Community became more important than Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.   Can you see the subtlety here.  By emphasising the Community as THE  Body of Christ they were actually taking us away from the True Jesus.  We ended up with a Teddy Bear who did not care a fig how we lived and only taught ideals.   Of course there is also the question of just how United we were in Faith around this Jesus.   I will leave this to others - I can only laugh.

The Tablet then went on to say that Bishop Egan had appointed traditionalists ate Greyshot.  What he had appointed was a community of nuns who wore habits - that apparently makes them traditional.  But I am sure that these nuns will be a wonderful addition to the Diocese.
