THE BREAD OF LIFE

There is a great concern for the poor in the Modernist Church.    Certainly the poor deserve out love and our charity but "...man does not live by bread alone but from every word that proceeds form the mouth of the Father... "

Two Sundays ago we had Christ feeding thousands with five loafs and two fishes but he then fled from them and when he found them he rebuked them that they were following him because he fed them bread, fed their bellies, but they did not listen to what he taught.    "I am the Bread of Life"  he told them    I wonder in how many Churches this was explained properly to the parishioners.   He was taking about his whole person as the Bread of Life.   The whole person is summed up in what he did, what he said, and not just confined to his Love.    It is easy to say Jesus loves me, it is comforting to hear that Jesus loves me, it is the nice thing about going to Church to hear I am special in the eyes of Jesus but perhaps like the crowd Jesus would from time to time want to get awayt from us because we are not committed to hm the way we should be.   Like the crowd we want the love and compassion but we do not heed his teaching.    His Commandments are difficult so just let us call them ideals, since we cannot live up to them.   Our love is so shallow that when we sin we assure ourselves that Jesus loves us and that is all that matters, we do not have to feel guilt .   It is wrong to feel guilt because Jesus loves us.   But wait, is it not rather because they return his love that many people feel guilt.    Surely not to feel guilt is showing contempt.

Before the Latin Mass was taken from us the priest used to say prayers at the foot of the altar after the final blessing.    One prayer was to St Michael the Archangel.  It had been introduced by Pople Leo XIII who saw how Freemasonry was entering the Church and seeking to destroy the Catholic Faith   Taking that prayer away took away our fear of the Devil in the Church and sin in the Church.  At the coming Synod on Marriage the Church is faced with the biggest fight in its history  - the fight for its survival     The enemy is attacking the teaching basis of the Church by trying to destroy its mora teaching and the teaching of Jesus Christ.   This time unlike Vatican II we know who the enemies foot soldiers are.   We also know the Cardinals and Bishops who will be fighting for Christ.   The battle is real and the Devil and his Angesl seek the total destruction of the  Church of Christ.   We need to pray and we need to feel guilt for our part in allowing things to come to this.   Pray the prayer of Pope Leo XIII and encourage devotion to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
