The New Liberal Church

There is a model of the new Liberal Church going around in this Diocese and it is being hailed as a great success.   The Model is getting every parishioner involved in the Parish in such tasks as 'Eucharist Ministers", Catechists, Readers, this committee, and that committee, almost anything you can think of.  And of course it does not matter really what you believe for you have built up respect for one another's  opinions.  As far as the Gospel is concerned everyone can believe what they like and the priest will always be there in support.   Many therefore 'move on' from Catholic teachings which become rules and abstract principles for those who are stuck in the old model of Church, usually the uneducated.    But it is good psychology, make the people feel important, make it the people's Church.   The trouble is it does not work.   It does not attract the young because they want a challenge in their lives outside the Church, they want to be apostles.

The Church in this Diocese was slowly disappearing because of the alienation of Youth in our schools.   Schools which were meant to do the opposite.   Clever people decided that doctrine was a bad word and they did not teach it.    The new model was to preach love, but love without responsibility.   Now that happens to be quite the opposite of the teachings of Christ and often when the Word of Jesus is read in Church it becomes an embarrassment to hear a priest contradict the very scriptures he had previously paraded to the lectionary.    When Mark 10 is read the priest now tell the congregation afterwards that 'good marriages are an ideal' since it is the opinion of those he surrounds himself with that he must cater for.   The priest will then impose his own gospel, there is no hell, there is no original sin, and when he mentions holiness nobody has the foggiest who he is talking about.   How can such a Church go out and 'teach all nations'"   The answer is it cannot and it does not, it is just a self serving Institution.   A Church that has built walls around itself and has little interest in the Community around them.  Yes of course it will join other Christians and pride itself in charitable works, but the actual preaching of the Gospel, bringing people to the Sacraments, showing compassion for the children of divorced parents, being a light to the world on divorce, abortion, adultery, and what true love is, teaching the truth that Jesus taught rather than the gospels of Hughes, Radcliffe, and Kasper is quite beyond its terms of business.

FAIR AS THE MOON, BRIGHT AS THE SUN, TERRIBLE AS AN ARMY SET IN BATTLE ARRAY

'Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array'. The above quote will be familiar to only a few Catholics today,   It was once on the lips of members of the Legion of Mary which was present in many parishes.    Fair as the moon and bright as the sun certainly describes Our Lady of Fatima but who exactly is meant by 'terrible as an army set in battle array?'   Certainly Our Lady appeared to ask us to pray for the conversion of sinners many of who were going to Hell for their sins as forewarned by her Son Jesus when he preachedHis Gospel.  Often we are trying and feel we are succeeding in living good lives when suddenly everything goes wrong  Like St Paul we often do the things we do not want to do rather than those that we want to do.   It is because we are involved in a war between Good and Evil and we are the children of Mary that the red Dragon wishes to devour in Revelations 12    We

The meaning of 'virgo Immaculata'

As you will see from the stained glass window the name given to the image is Virgo Immaculata.   Mary was the virgin who remained sinless and spotless.  Yes she would have been tempted by Satan, but as the image shows she kept close to God in prayer and all the wiles of Satan, the forbidden fruit he offered, depictdd by the apple, ended up stuck in his throat while the right foot of Mary crushed his head. "I will put enmity between Thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed", God tole the serpent in Genesis   Satan was no match for Jesus who was God made Man but he had overcome a mere mortal before in Eve, What a triumph it would have been to destroy she whom Jesus loved above al others - his mother.   But Mary kept close to Jesus and to God, the new Eve, and mother of the new children that the death of Jesus brought into being.    And as Revelations 12 tells us having failed to destroy the birth of Jesus Satan  went after her other children - us.       When
