LORD TO WHOM SHALL WE TURN

In the Gospel of John we read how many deserted Jesus when he spoke about the eating of His flesh and the drinking of His blood.  Will you also go  he asked the disciples  Lord to who shall we go for you have the words of eternal life  came the reply.  Despite the confusions purposely created in the Church the vast majority of Catholics will never move on or doubt the Church that is the Body of Christ.   Sometimes I wonder if it is proper for me to comment on what was said at meetings I attend and put people in the frame so to speak.  Yet in my parish there is no alternative since faithful Catholics are spurned.     I have been on in previous posts about Catholicism by Fr Robert Barron.  It is not a doctrinal course so maybe I over react to what is missing.  It is simply a quick explanation of the Catholic Faith.    It would be wonderful to report that everyone who went to the meetings were keen to learn about the Church and what she teaches unfortunately there are those who go merely to criticise and deride these teachings.     I reported an appalling attack on Mary our Mother who was blamed for the subjugation of women.   Were it just another ordinary parishioner who took no lead in the parish then perhaps it would be pointless to get angry but this person is one of several people who run the parish and dictate what should be taught and not taught according to what they call the Catholic Faith.   Fr Barron says nothing that is not contained in the Dogmatic Constitution of the Church drawn up by the fathers of Vatican II.   Infallibility, Mary, the lot.    The question at the last meeting was Papal Infallibility.    Now we did have a meeting about the role of the Pope by much the same people some time ago and their decisions on behalf of the rest of us was that we do not need the Pope since we can think for ourselves.   Confronted for the first time in many years by a priest teaching Papal Infallibility their response was the old parrot phrase I have moved on.     They did not state to where they had moved.   We have moved on is a euphemism for  we are anti-catholic.   And even if we give them the benefit of the doubt then they are claiming the are more mature than everyone else.    The lesson is that if anyone puts on a programme on the Catholic Faith they must be one hundred per cent in favour of what they are putting over and be ready tho defend that Faith otherwise it is just another waste of time and perhaps the absence of so many Catholics from these talks is an indication of what they expect from past experience, so they just stay away.
