MARY, THE ROSARY, AND THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

I am fortunate to be in a parish where the community was spared the insulting behaviour of those who decided that the presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle on the main altar was 'not liturgically correct'.   As I said this was a unilateral decision of local bishops and priests and no authoritative document or official teaching of the Catholic Church supports the action.   Be that as it may there is something extra special in my parish Church,    The statue of Mary is placed at the back, so her face is fixed on the tabernacle.   There are no chairs turned towards her so a Rosary group has to say the Rosary with its back to her but looking at the Tabernacle just like her.

Since I began my watches I have started saying the Rosary during my visits and have come to a wonderful understanding.   Mary is behind me but we both face the Tabernacle and this truth more than any other has come to mind - Mary is not someone who stands idly by while we pray TO HER, no, Mary does not watch us pray, SHE PRAYS WITH US.    Her Rosary is not so much offered to God but to her Son Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament.   So no matter how poorly I say the Rosary she enriches it.

Mary does not pray to God for us.   She prays to the GOD-MADE-MAN, Jesus Christ her son    For it is as the Mother of the Incarnate Word that has made her Blessed among all Women.    She lived only for her Son on earth , and now she lives only for her Son in Heaven.   She is not then a mediator between us and God, but she is a powerful mediator between us and her Son Jesus.   Those whom Jesus loves, she loves, and those who turn to her with sincerity she will beg for them with her Son.

Can this then be really described as idolatry?   Is it taking away the worship due to Jesus?     Does Jesus go into fits of anger because people are paying more attention to her than to him?.   What a very sad question.  NO, who can love a mother as much as a son, and who can love a son as much as a mother.
