A Stupid and Bigoted Irish Government

Well I must say I never thought I would laugh at the BBC. From the Irish Government you expect stupidity, but this fake accusation of nuns throwing children into a mass grave was, if you do not laugh, really sick. What actually happened was that the babies were buried in individual graves and each grave had a cross. When the nuns left, the new owners just removed the crosses. So fifty years later along comes an 'historian' who learns to her horror that there are babies buried beside the house. "It must have been a mass grave" she decides, and writes her story. There was of course a sewage system nearby but it did not occupy the whole area, nor is there any evidence that the nuns buried the babies there. And of course being a Mass Grave the historian decided the deaths were not reported. But they had. Now how do I know all this? Because this story reached the headlines about 3 years ago, and the historian was contradicted three years ago. But to my amazement the story of the 'cruel nuns' surfaced again on the BBC while I was having my breakfast. There was to be a report from the Irish Government into the matter later that day. The first announcement when they got round to the report was that 9,000 babies had died in children's homes run by nuns in a cruel Catholic Ireland. I thought of how humane we are today as we knife, poison, and do all kinds of things to kill such babies in the womb. Then I reflected on the 9,000 figure between 1920 and 1960 which the Irish Governent reported and heard myself saying "Is that all?" We were told there were many other children homes in Ireland and that we must conclude they were just as bad. So let us do some analysis on the 9,000 figure. If there were 20 homes then the average deaths over 40 yeats would be 9,000 divide by 20 which comes out at 450 over the 40 yeats Now if you divide that by 40 to get the annual death rate. I will let you work that out and you will be astonished.. Now consider the high mortality rate in the 20's and 30's. For example my father was one of ten children. Only he and a sister survived to adulthood and the longest living of the rest was 6 years. So here I am thinking how well these nuns did to keep the children alive. Instead we have a bigoted Irish Government issuing a report which they had done very little work on, attacking the Irish Catholic Church. They should be made to apologise
