The Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool

I have many reservations about the Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool in September.   A Eucharistic Congress is meant to further not just Community Devotion, and there is little enough of that, but also to foster an individual relationship with the Living Jesus we receive in Holy Communion into our souls, and that is each individual soul.

But let me quote from the introduction in the magazine ADOREMUS.    "In any living body the Head is an integral part of the whole   In the same way we cannot cherish the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, in isolation from the parish community in which most of us live........".     That could be acceptable in some circumstances but it is not what the majority of Catholics who do indeed cherish the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, have found.    Indeed when it came to Adoration the very people who knelt in adoration found that they were opposed by those 'who ran the parishes' with the tacit support of their priest.    It was also found that many bishops were not over anxious to spread the devotion but in some circumstances for 'good example' they supported it.   In my own parish many wonderful people who are now dead gave much of their time in front of the Blessed Sacrament but there were others who perhaps were having meetings or doing some business who would never dream of kneeling before Jesus in the Monstrance or Tabernacle and the worshippers found themselves in isolation from the community.     When Adoration was reduced to two hours and the worship was always covered, even then it was stopped bu a parish priest.

So since in many parishes the practice of Adoration is still frowned on what are the Bishops of England and Wales offering us when they have through their actions divided the people.

How wonderful it would be if the whole parish took part in a Procession of the Blessed Sacrament, but this is unlikely because we are not united under Jesus Christ we are scattered and divided and ye we know this Eucharistic Congress will never dare to admit this.

What is more incredible is that when we take Holy Communion, receive the loving Jesus, body, blood, should and divinity into our tongues we are forbidden in some Churches to worship Him, for this can only be done when we have returned to our seats and are 'Community"  So we should be siting around loving our neighbour and ignoring the love that is overwhelming us.    Let me be clear what I think of this.   It is not heresy, it is the anti-Christ.

"Come you who labour and are heavy burdened and I will give your rest"     But there is nothing on in Church at the moments you despair so you will have to wait till next Sunday.    Yes God wants us to act as a Community to evangelise the world but He also wants us to know him personally.   He wants to make a personal relationship with me and that is why having taken flesh the Son of God cannot desert us for he loves us too much.     He waits in his tent for us to visit him, so that he can respond to our individual needs.    A God who is not personal is useless.
