As Mary is thrown out the Door, Protestants are Welcomed.

When Cardinal Heenan returned from Vatican II, he gave a talk to his diocesan priests on how devotion to Mary had been attacked by certain Bishops, especially the German bishops who had gone into ecumenism shortly after the war since they had a new relationship with Protestants after the persecution by Hitler. Th. ere had been a schema on Mary prepared or discussion but it was thrown out since the shouts arose "This will put the Ecumenical Movement back ten years".  The Bishops of the rest of the world knew little about ecumenism in this form and were not prepared for such an onslaught on Catholic truth  The Germans won the day.   Bishop Heenan then went on to ask  his priests not to lose devotion to Mary since this devotion truly leads to a love of Jesus especially in the Blessed Sacrament.   Already however the knives were poised behind his back and when Corpus Christi College opened it became a place of revolution and not just revolution but scandal as nuns and priests lost their vocations and even the man in charge a Fr Hubert Richards gave up his vocation and married a nun.   But bishops from all over England had sent representatives to receive the new teachings and when Cardinal Heenan eventually acted it was too late, England was run by the moderiists.  Devotions were despised and throw out of the Church, especially devotion to Mary and as Cardinal Heenan had predicted there was a loss of love of Jesus and the Blessed Sacrament.   Soon the altar rails were removed to stop people kneeling for Communion, soon the English bishops wanted Communion in the hand, and soon he Tabernacles were being removed to side rooms to be neglected or side altars.  The Spirit of Vatican II was very much in evidence as the lies flowed to justify what was happening.  Catholics were told that people received communion in the hand for ive hudred years, a claim that does ot stand up to any investigation and St Cyril of Jerusalem was misquoted.  Of course all this was done in the name of ecumenism and yes, there were Protetants came in when they were told that Devotion to Mary was not needed and beleif in the Real Presence, well they could make up their own minds.   Little wonder that thousands left the Church and young people looked on in disgust deciding the world was a more honest place.
