DO WE ONLY DO GOD ON SUNDAY?

I often marvel at just how blind the Secular Society is?   Knife crimes on the rise, poverty blamed on the Government rather than the breakdown in family life that it is responsible for.    Children growing up in broken homes without a father and being assured that there is nothing wrong with this.  Yet still the problems grow.   Not having had the experience of a loving father and mother, both dedicated to each other and focussed on them, these children grow up  felling cheated and deprived, and unable to make relationships that are lasting.    Then we have the call for more mental health provision for the growing number of children growing up lost and confused.   Again the answer is always 'spend more money'

The most abused word in the English language is the word 'love'.   Jesus once said "You have heard it said "Tou shall not commit adultery.  But I say that any man who looks at a woman and lusts after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart"    But what then is the difference between love and lust?   Love is about tenderness, respect and giving but Lust is about only using a body for self satisfaction irrespective of the person in that body.   When you are tired of the body you throw it away.   And that is the lust that many of our young people are facing today.   They look at a society of throw aways, men and women getting tired of each other and no matter what the children feel, well who cares about the children, they move on to someone else.   And although there are many cases of genuine separation the truth is that the children never witnessed love and faithfulness between their parents and many now grow up expecting abuse and our secular society tells them it is OK.  Once society invests money in you everything will be fine.

Jesus Christ had a lot to say about divorce and adultery which christians do not want to hear.   Just keep praising him but do not take him too seriously on these matters.   He just taught ideals, he did not really expect us to live his message, did He?   The trouble is that the early Christians were living in a pagan society and did believe Him.   Yes, they actually believed his message of chastity before marriage and faithfulness after marriage  were revolutionary.    So from the world of today we can call them foolish.

Like myself many of you meet young people in unhappy family life.  And many of us just walk past them.   In schools the girls "in danger' will be encouraged to use contraceptives, you know the common sense approach to life today,  But one thing the school teacher will not know is what their common sense did for that pupil when they left school.    It is easy to praise oneself.   But what about Church.  Well that is for Sunday, isn't it.    We meet very nice people there but of course we do not like to be told about sin, adultery, and all that nonsense.   We have to live in the world for the rest of the week and be like everyone else, and live life like everyone else.   This 'in the world but not of the world' sounds lovely but we cannot live like the Early Christians.     No, we only do God on Sundays.
