THE IGNORANT FLOCK

When the statute of Our Lady of Walsingham was in Portsmouth Cathedral I was at Mass and a strange thing happened.   Now I am partially sighted and although I can see distances I do not see detail too much.  I observed in going for communion when I joined the queue that some people were kneeling in the bottom altar steps and receiving what I took to be the host.   When I came to the front I went to kneel on the step with many others but what we received was the chalice.   That was OK for the chalice also contains Christ in his entirety, with his body, just as the host contains Christ in his entirety, with his blood.  This is the teaching of the Church.   So I did not lose out in receiving the host.   But it was the number of people who knelt that surprised me.   It was the ability to use the altar step  to push my6self up which enabled me to kneel for in my parish church  I can no longer receive my Saviour in a state of humility.   But to the video.

When in the late 60's and 70's altar rails were removed by many bishops it was presented as an accomplishment of Vatican II.    People were not consulted it was just done.    No adequate explanation was given, neither Vatican II nor any document or judgement of the Church was given, the communities were just left to get on with it and woe betide anyone who objected for they were the pharisees and badly educated people who in Fr Richard O'Brien's opinion 'pricked the host to see if it would plead'    A few pots back you will find my article on Fr Richard O'Brien, and his explanation that Jesus is just 'sacramentally' present.   And do not forget he was an 'expert' on Church affairs.    I think many people of my age have had their fill of 'experts'.   So why is this bishop denying communion to people who kneel?    Well of course if people kneel before this 'sacramental presence' during Mass they will probably kneel before it after Mass.   This is not, according to Fr O'Brie and his follower, what the Mass is about.   O no, they must learn that this worship is wrong and the 'MASS IS EVERYTHING'     Well that could not be clearer, the Mass is all we need as Catholic and daring to worship the Body of Christ is very displeasing to Jesus.  Of course it is"   The presence of Jesus in the host means nothing.   so we can go on to the nest step.   Having removed the altar rail to stop worship we must follow through and remove the Tabernacle from the altar.    You see having decided that the worship of Jesus is wrong duding Mass we must stop people adoring him after Mass.   OK give him a quiet corner.    Or remove him into another room.   He means nothing.    Indeed -I must say that debate on the presence of Jesus was also part of the 60's and 70's and many 'experts' came forward to write their books.    Fr Roderick Strange felt that the presence was not physical nor symbolic but something 'in between'     But when experts come to together they usually get it right in the end "it is just sacramental presence' not physical nor symbolic.    so the Early Church sticking to the words of Jesus and his saying "Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you cannot have life in you" John 6, were hopelessly wrong.    The Disciples suffered from not having the intelligence of this age.   They should have walked away with the others but instead insisted that the consecrated host was the 'flesh' of Jesus.    But then they were just fishermen.

So here we have in the video a mature and educated man, indeed a bishop, putting ignorant people right about Jesus.   He does not believe in the Real Presence so why should they do so.    Why should anyone believe that Jesus would want to be worshiped in this way.

IT IS TIME THERE WAS SOME SERIOUS THINKING ON THIS MATTER.
