The Same Old Tired and Weary Message of Community.

Yet again we have a Parish Priest returning to his Parish full of not just Community, but Communities  within, you no doubt have guessed it, within a Community.   We have been hearing about Communities since the 1970's   Every new priest comes up with it as some new Master Plan for a Parish   And of course through these Communities we are all going to show our love for Jesus.   If only these communities with a community would have two scripture quotes in front of them.   "If you love me KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS'  or perhaps "Not everyone who cries to me Lord, Lord , shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father in Heaven.

So in the teachings of Christ there are values that Jesus want us to follow in order to build the Kingdom of Heaven.   These values do not change and in todays world were there a real examination of what is happening to our children because the Church does not have the vision of Christ nor try to build his Kingdom there would be outrage.  But the Community Church is an inward looking Church and not an outward looking one.

There seems to be also a realisation growing at last that Confirmation is creating scandal.    There is talk about it being seen as a Graduation Ceremony and young people having reached that last Sacrament feel they need not bother to go to Church any more.   Of course the matter is a great deal more serious.  The majority of the  young people have already left before Confirmationn   The question which we must not ask is why they have left?   Because we must accept that the Catechetics taught today are beyond criticism.   We must not go back to the bad old days of the Penny Catechism etc,   We must be adults and find out the truth for ourselves.    I have always preferred looking at myself as a little child.  The truth which even I am trying not to face up to is that I no longer attend a Catholic Church but a Protestant one, where the communion of saints and the values of Christ are mocked although we have the hypocricy of taking the bible to the altar in procession.    I am a Roman Catholic and my Faith is built on obedience to Christ and his teachings.   I will never desert the real Jesus and fashion a Jesus that suits my values.    I believe in the building of the Kingdom.
