Jesus We Need our Mother

When devotion to Mary was driven out of the Church as part of the Ecumenical endeavourIt it was as though a pillar had been removed and the whole edifice fell down.   There was an old saying "Those who deny the Mother end up denying the Son" and this became a prophecy fulfilled.   Community was forced upon us but if we take Jesus seriously, and few do nowadays, what Jesus taught was family.   Community just means people coming together for a common cause but there are no binding ties between members.   In a Community we can say, yes, everyone is welcome but we cannot make someone who is not family a member of our family - at least not in the human field.     A family is the place, or should be a place, where we learn love through the love expressed to one another by a father and mother.  And in such a family the child grows in obedience because of the security in knowing the love of a father and mother.   But how can a Church become a family?   By the grace in Baptism we are bound by the Spirit into a oneness with each other.   By receiving the Body of Christ we become bound as brothers and sisters sharing that one love and united in that one love.   That is all nice and beautiful but there is one snag.   We are expected to be one in unity with Jesus Christ, our eldest brother in order to be one family.   That unity is broken when we deny his teachings, when we wilfully sin, and when we belleve he is really too old to teach us today.    In other words there is a squabble in the family and it is not united.   In any family the one person who hates disunity among the children is the Mother.   Jesus was a man not a woman and he took his nature as a man and not a woman.   Yes, he loves us deeply but children usually find comfort in adversity from their mother.   She is the one who is always there to make it right with Dad.  How many children in a family have a word with mother before they approach Dad?   There are many, many.   So in he Church we need our Mother Mary.   Mary has always cared for us since we are brothers and sisters of Jesus and so hers by adoption.    Throughout history she has shown her care by her apparitions to warn us about sin and the need for repentance to help us  find again that pure love that God asks of us.    It was a Jesuit priest who when a document on Mary was proposed stood up and cried "This will put the Ecumenical movement back ten years"  So Mary was abandoned not from reason, nor doctrine, but because she was an embarrassment.     Jesus we need our Mother bring her back to us.
