On Independent Thinking.

 We live in a crazy age where normal ways of thinking and using logic seem to have disappeared.   People have aspirations to be recognised as clever, but it seems individuality does not count.   Be part of a group  who will praise you, make you feel good about yourself, assure you that you are always right, for they are always right, and of course any opposition is treated with nastiness, for you do not want to be proved wrong. 

I seem to have been meeting people like the above all my life, which is why I never jump on board any band waggon and have found myself in trouble for most of my life.

I feel therefore for people who are not part of the group but want to show the group the folly of their ways.   Take the question of Covid.   There are institutions where people take charge and with bursts of fervour tackle the problem as they see it, but in doing so give rise to another problem which for lack of knowledge they fail to identify.  What we need is ventilation.   They jump in and open every window in the place.   The heat is quickly driven out and people sit hugging the radiators to keep warm.  Some even catch cold in the place then go home and find they have caught a flu', this can develop into pneumonia, and even with a heavy flu' the old can die.    What they also lack is knowledge that there are Health and Safety Guidelines for Buildings use by he Public which lay down a temperature of 67degrees as a minimum for the Health and Safety of the People.   So intent are they in fighting Covid that they put the people they claim to protect in danger, for they just open the windows and doors almost oblivious to the danger the people they claim to protect are in, letting the temperature drop to the low 50 degrees and even lower.    But it is being on the team, the feeing you are right, that is guiding them.   The sad thing is that at the moment Covid is at an all time low and more people are now being infected but colds, flu', lung troubles, including pneumonia, but their eyes are not on he big picture and many who are their victims may well have died because of their negligence.    But when you are in a group it seems independent research is not to be done - you may be disliked,

FAIR AS THE MOON, BRIGHT AS THE SUN, TERRIBLE AS AN ARMY SET IN BATTLE ARRAY

'Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array'. The above quote will be familiar to only a few Catholics today,   It was once on the lips of members of the Legion of Mary which was present in many parishes.    Fair as the moon and bright as the sun certainly describes Our Lady of Fatima but who exactly is meant by 'terrible as an army set in battle array?'   Certainly Our Lady appeared to ask us to pray for the conversion of sinners many of who were going to Hell for their sins as forewarned by her Son Jesus when he preachedHis Gospel.  Often we are trying and feel we are succeeding in living good lives when suddenly everything goes wrong  Like St Paul we often do the things we do not want to do rather than those that we want to do.   It is because we are involved in a war between Good and Evil and we are the children of Mary that the red Dragon wishes to devour in Revelations 12    We

The meaning of 'virgo Immaculata'

As you will see from the stained glass window the name given to the image is Virgo Immaculata.   Mary was the virgin who remained sinless and spotless.  Yes she would have been tempted by Satan, but as the image shows she kept close to God in prayer and all the wiles of Satan, the forbidden fruit he offered, depictdd by the apple, ended up stuck in his throat while the right foot of Mary crushed his head. "I will put enmity between Thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed", God tole the serpent in Genesis   Satan was no match for Jesus who was God made Man but he had overcome a mere mortal before in Eve, What a triumph it would have been to destroy she whom Jesus loved above al others - his mother.   But Mary kept close to Jesus and to God, the new Eve, and mother of the new children that the death of Jesus brought into being.    And as Revelations 12 tells us having failed to destroy the birth of Jesus Satan  went after her other children - us.       When
