OUR LADY OF FATIMA; A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS.

In just over a year the Pope will be visiting Fatima. Why?  Because he is a Catholic and believes in Fatima.   It would be wonderful if I could say that my parish will be celebrating and rejoicing, although in the Diocese we have a Catholic Bishop who will do his best.  No, the 'leaders' who took us from the Catholic Faith in the 70's to form their own Catholic Church and force it on the rest of us will not allow such childish devotions.   But Our Lady of Fatima is more than just a childish devotion, at Fatima Mary attacked everything they stand for, or should I everything they do not stand for.

So what was Fatima about.  At Fatima Our Lady appeared to three children to ask them to say certain prayers and the Rosary.    She asked then to pray for peace in the world and the conversion of all sinners.  She had already asked Bernadette at Lourdes to pray for the conversion of sinners but somehow that part of the Lourdes message was lost.   Sos her our Mother was again but this time she warned of a terrible catastrophe unless people turned to God, but in the end she promised us her Immaculate Heart would triumph.

One of the prayers the children learned was "O Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of your mercy."   You can see the difficulty immediately.   How can a modern Catholic priest or lay believe in Hell.    And this Lady of Fatima went further she even let the children see a vision of Hell.   The sad thing about such people is that Jesus himself not only spoke about Hell but he warned of a judgement and a fire which was prepared for the Devil and his Angels which was everlasting.    So Mary was not saying at Fatima anything new, she was stressing that her Son should be taken seriously.   But when priests seek popularity with an elite in their Church by denying the words of Jesus and preach all sorts of nonsense rather than the words of Jesus, they leave the ordinary faithful Catholic in a quandary.   Whom should we believe?   Jesus in scripture or Father or even Bishop or Cardinal whatever their name is?   And who am I to try to contradict them?

Many politicians are now engaged in trying to find peace in Syria and now in Europe where Moslems are killing Christians as they have done for 1400 years.   There does not seem to be a political solution and indeed it is true that there is no political solution for this is a war and our enemies as St Paul told us are Principatlities and Powers.   It is a war between good and evil.   That is why Fatima is important we have to recognise that we are in a spiritual war and the message of Our Lady of Fatima is that the Catholic Church should be promoting the Rosary.
