THE ECUMENICAL FARCE

It is nice to be nice.   It was a relief for many 'catholics' when the lie was spread after Vatican II that the Church no longer considered itself to have the 'fullness of revelation'   That it was a lie is easily proved by the document on the Constitution of the Church which went through teaching and emphasised the infallibility of the Magisterium.    But as I say it was much nicer to lie and be liked than be faithful to Christ and being disliked.   Those who held on to the truth were dismissed as 'triumphalist' and treated as the lowest of the low.     We had a new Church based on what an educated elite wanted and the teachings of Jesus were dismissed.

But when did this begin.  It started with a small band of well organised bishops at Vatican II who quickly seized control and ran the whole affair.  When a document on Our Lady was being introduced the German bishop, Karl Rahner, stood up and stated that this would put the ecumenical movement back ten years.    The document was dismissed, and although there was nothing as radical for the rest of the Council the modernist group was in control and ecumenism against triumphalism was the them after the bishops went home and documents were framed accordingly.   That it was German bishops who did this was quite remarkable for they were part of a Church that had almost disappeared but was kept alive by the tax payments from the Government.  Soon the enthusiastic European countries took up this failed policy and emptied their Churches, destroyed their young people, and went on with a Church that was well - nice.

In many parishes Protestants took over and used the name Catholic in a loose sense of the word since they followed their conscience and did not really believe the Catholic Faith.   But they were in good company.   Priests stopped preaching on marriage and divorce, abortion, adultery, and saying anything that would offend the people who attended.  Of course since the young people had left in their droves that would not be there to listen anyhow but the parents got nothing to take back.    Yes, we had a Church in which Protestants could be at home but Catholics, that was another matter.

Perhaps one day Christianity and not just Catholicism will take the Gospel seriously again and really listen to Christ and try to establish on earth the Kingdom he wanted.   Instead of parading the Bible as though they took it seriously lukewarm priests will preach what Jesus preached.   We can only pray and hope.
