What is the Point of the Sacraments?

Why do I go to Mass?   Why do I go to Confession?   Why do I adore Jesus?  Why do I read the bible?   Yes, they all bring me consolation, they all make me part of a community, a nice little social club where I can feel important.   Many of the community do not bother about confession nor adoring the Blessed Sacrament - they claim it is irrelevant in their life experience.    So are these sacraments given on a take it or leave it basis really important?
I suppose what I am asking is this, are the sacraments an end in themselves, something we do because that is what Catholics do?    There are many voices raised against people who fully practice their Catholic Faith.  Claims that they are lost in the practices and liturgies but not going beyond this to a mature personal faith.  Not going beyond them to look after the poor and the weak, and dare I say it not going beyond them to remain sinless.   Well there are few who would attack them on the sin basis and yet it is remaining sinless that is the whole point of Catholic practices and liturgies.   The attack on practicing Catholics that they do not look after the poor is just bigotry by people who have little regard for the Catholic Faith.    It is easy to say such things and attract an audience since it sounds such a wonderful thing to say and somehow makes us stand out as caring.   Unless you eat this bread and drink this cup you cannot have life in you   Jesus said.    That is the point of the liturgy - life.   What is life?  Life is the grace Jesus offers through the sacraments to help us lead holy lives.   St Paul told us that anyone who says he is without sin is a liar, and there are many liars in the Church today.  They are the ones who do not need confession because they are mature and what  is more by influencing others with their heresy they destroy other souls.   They should find one of the old fashioned books, as they call the books of the saints, and learn the meaning of humility.   The saints are the ones who went beyond the practices, or should I say used the practices to make themselves true servants of God and Man..
