"...together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus..."

"....together with the women and Mary the Mother of Jesus......"This quote is from ACTS 1:14.  Notice the special mention of Mary the Mother of Jesus.   The Disciples had all gone to the upper room after the Ascension of Jesus to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit that was promised by Jesus.  But Mary was the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the bridge between God and 'God made Man', between God the Father and God the Son.   She was already as the Angel Gabriel said "Full of the Holy Spirit".   So Mary took her place as Mother of the Church and prayed with the disciples just as she prays with us every time we offer our prayers.

But Mary had another role.  She had lived with her Son and was able to guide the disciples by recalling his life, the life that she nourished, and answer the many questions they asked, for surely when he went off to preach the Gospel, when he went off to die on the Cross, He would have spoken of what lay ahead to His mother.    And she who journeyed with Him to Calvary and held the crucified Jesus in her arms, had so much wisdom and knowledge to give the disciples as they prepared for their mission.   Yes, these men were to preach like her Son peached, and would die as her Son died, and just as she had prepared Jesus, so she prepared them.

So we too as we prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost must also journey with Mary. There is no better way to prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit than by saying the Rosary, for at Lourdes and Fatima Our Lady showed us that this is the prayer she wants us to pray.  Then we can meditate especially on the Glorious Mysteries, and be truly ready to receive the Holy Spirit.
